Alicante airport closed.
Alicante airport is now closed. No surprise there.
I wonder if everyone who wanted to leave managed to do so.

Re: Alicante airport closed.
I don't believe many of the articles in the free local rags .
They tend to print stories , without checking the validity first .

Re: Alicante airport closed.
Yes EWN are a complete rag I must say and I have had several run ins with them for misleading and blatent untrue articles.
One recent one was that the army were going to shoot people who didn't obey the lockdown rules and then posted the relevent article.
Nowhere in the official article did it mention anything about shooting people and I found that type of sensationalist misleading commenting utterly disgraceful and told them so as did several othere commentators. The post was removed very quickly.
They also posted that ALL airports in Spain were closed a few days ago which again was a lie and then later that ALL nationa flights had been cancelled and posted the relative directive from Aena.
Again I pointed out, as did others, that ALL national had not been cancelled but just national flights from Madrid and the Canary and Balearic islands.
That also was removed very swifly.
Probably the most cynical was the video that went viral about the shop selling toilet rolls for 10 pounds. It clearly states that is was for a pack of twelve toilet rolls, extortionate yes, indefensible yes, but the EWN headlined their article that the shop was selling the toilets rolls at 10 pound EACH, again blatent misleading and downright lies. Again after the errors of their ways were pointed out, the article disappeared.
I must say that the well respected N332 has been guilty at times lately of the same incorrect reporting. Maybe they share the same source for ' breaking news'
This is an interesting link that shows Alicante airport is far from closed. Malaga was also reported closed last night by the same rag but a look on Aenas website shows it quite busy.
Stay safe,

Re: Alicante airport closed.
One of the reasons I don't bother with the papers
Alicante airport need to update their site, as they have apparently moved to 160 kilometres north of Valencia
"Alicante airport is located 9 kilometres southwest of Alicante city, in the municipality of Elche, 9 kilomentres east of Elche, 160 kilometres north of Valencia city and 70 kilometres north of Murcia".

Re: Alicante airport closed.
It's unlikely that the wording on the website linked to by JamesB will ever be updated. It's an unofficial Alicante Airport website with affiliate advertisements/plugins purely to generate passive income for the website owner.Lincoln45 wrote: 24 Mar 2020 15:35

Re: Alicante airport closed.
Well it's interesting to see that the website gives cancelled flights as well so you can see a general oversight to the traffic for the day.
It also gives the times and status of all the flights tomorrow whereas ANEA`S info is very limited. !
